Notre Dame and the Siene
Bonjour!  Well it's been a whirlwind of a weekend, but we're finally here!  We (Laura and I) arrived in Paris on Thursday morning and have been wandering aimlessly around the city ever since.  Eating, drinking and admiring the architecture on every corner.  I think this is probably my favorite part about being in a city that I am not entirely familiar with.

After checking into the Montclair Hostel on Thursday morning we found a local bar where we enjoyed our first coffee and croque-monsieur.  This is where we met Thomas, who moved to Paris about 10 years ago.  He heard us speaking English and gave us some much needed advice and a few French lessons (which I am not sure I will retain.)  Hopefully, after a month here I will have learned a few phrases!

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all consisted of meeting new friends, exploring the city and doing a little bit of shopping. I think we are experts on the metro already, which I firmly believe every major city should have.  Incredibly quick, convenient, and easy to navigate.  We visited the Eiffel Tower on Friday night with friends from the hostel and enjoyed a little wine beneath it.  We also saw Notre Dame earlier that day and basically just tried to familiarize ourselves with the different areas of the city and the metro.

Today we found the area where we will be staying for the remainder of the month.  The Bastille area is where our dorms will be and it looks like it's going to be an incredibly fun part of the city to spend our time. While venturing around the area, we came across the Centre Pomidou where we each purchased a handmade bracelet and saw the ending of a skit where two individuals were making fun of Americans (typical.)

I most definitely don't have anything to complain about, other than the fact that I am kicking myself for not taking any French classes.  Maybe I will take a few classes when I return back to the states, so the next time I visit I will be able to communicate better.

Classes start in four days, so we need to enjoy the last few carefree days we have!  The photos attached are highlighting some of my favorite moments and places we visited thus far.  Au revoir!
